Our Philosophy

Understanding the midwifery model of care.

The midwifery model is fundamentally different from the medical/obstetric model. Rather than viewing pregnancy and birth as conditions to manage, we view them as sacred, healthy life events worthy of reverence and gentle, watchful care.

Two Models · One Sacred Event

A gentler way to birth.

Medical Model

  • Birth as a medical event
  • Routine intervention
  • Provider rotates
  • Hospital setting
  • Standardized protocols

Midwifery Model

  • Birth as a natural milestone
  • Minimal intervention
  • Same midwife throughout
  • Home environment
  • Care shaped around you
Our Principles

Six pillars of Birthurway care.

Respect for Natural Birth

We honor pregnancy and birth as normal, healthy events — intervening only when truly medically necessary.

Individualized Care

Every family is unique. Care is tailored to your values, your body, and your story.

Informed Choice

Evidence-based information empowers you to make decisions that align with your beliefs.

Family-Centered

Birth is a family experience. Partners, siblings, and loved ones are welcome and encouraged.

Safety First

Comprehensive screening and established hospital relationships keep mother and baby safe.

Faith Integration

Prayer, Scripture, and biblical principles woven naturally through your care.

Family at home
Safety

Safety is sacred, too.

Homebirth with a qualified midwife is safe for low-risk pregnancies. We maintain comprehensive screening protocols throughout your pregnancy and have established relationships with local hospitals and physicians for consultation or transfer if needed. Your safety — and your baby's — is always our highest priority.

“For You formed my inward parts; You knitted me together in my mother's womb.”

Psalm 139:13
